REQUIREMENTS: Community Development Coordinator
LOCATION: Fulton County, Kentucky
CONTRACTED BY: Community Ventures Corporation in collaboration with: Fulton County, City of Fulton, City of Hickman
SCOPE OF WORK:
The collaborative efforts of Community Ventures (CV), Fulton County, City of Fulton and City of Hickman are seeking an individual to serve as a Community Development Coordinator providing community project development and project management. The position would also provide training and technical assistance to persons interested in the community development processes, programs, and resources. The CD Coordinator plays a pivotal role in fostering growth and revitalization within the community and is responsible for identifying and implementing initiatives that enhance the quality of life for the residents.
The ideal candidate must possess a passion for community engagement, strong organizational skills, and a creative approach to problem solving. They must also have a desire to learn the various aspects of community development and have the ability to train others.
KEY OUTCOMES:
- Training:
- Participate in training activities that enhance existing skills and create a well-rounded community development skillset.
- Participate in providing workshops and training opportunities for the communities that are focused on developing strong community development partnerships and programs.
- Attend and improve their personal professional ability in the areas of Community Development.
- Community Engagement:
- Build and maintain relationships with community stakeholders, including residents, businesses, and local organizations.
- Facilitate community meetings, workshops, and events to gather input and foster collaboration.
- Develop and implement strategies to increase community participation and involvement in local development initiatives.
- Project Management:
- Oversee the planning, development, and implementation of community development projects on behalf of the municipalities, such as neighborhood revitalization, economic development, and affordable housing initiatives.
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure successful outcomes.
- Monitor project progress and make necessary adjustments to ensure goals are met.
- Grant Writing and Funding:
- Research and identify potential funding sources, including grants, loans, and public-private partnerships.
- Prepare compelling grant proposals and applications to secure funding for community development projects or identify acceptable grant writers who have a strong record working with the funding source.
- Manage grant administration, including reporting and compliance requirements.
- Economic Development:
- Work with local businesses and economic development leaders to support economic growth and job creation.
- Assist in the development of business retention and expansion programs.
- Collaborate with economic development organizations to attract new businesses to the community.
- Community Planning:
- Participate in the development and implementation of comprehensive community plans.
- Conduct research and analysis to identify community needs and opportunities.
- Develop strategies to address community challenges and improve the overall quality of life.
- Volunteer Management:
- Recruit, train, and manage volunteers to support community development initiatives.
- Coordinate volunteer activities and recognize volunteer contributions.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in community planning, Public Administration, Community Development, or a related field.
- Minimum of five (3) years of experience in community development or a related field.
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in grant writing and administration or the willingness and ability to learn.
- Knowledge of community development principles and practices or the willingness and ability to learn.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in a relevant field.
- Experience working with diverse populations.
- Knowledge of local government regulations and procedures.
