The City of Fulton uses an organizational structure known as The Commission Plan. Under this plan there is an elected officer who is called the Mayor and four elected Commissioners.
The Mayor and the Commissioners creates the City Commission. The Commission Plan allows for the executive, administrative, and legislative authority of the city that is exercised by the city commission.
Along with The Commission Plan there is a Manager Plan. This plan allows for the City Manager to have day-to-day responsibilities of the city while the Commission is not meeting
1. Qualifications to be a Candidate
A person must be a resident of the city for not less than one year before the election.
2. Qualifications to Hold Office
Must be 21 years of age or older
Be a qualified voter in the city
Reside in the city throughout the term of office
3. Duties and Authorities of Legislative Bodies within the Commission and Manager Plan
The legislative body has all of the powers except for,
There is no veto power
No power to disapprove regulations promulgated by the mayor
