THE CITY OF FULTON WILL BE ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR A TEMPORARY/SEASONAL HELP IN THE PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT UNDER THE DIRECTION OF PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR BILLY NELMS, JR. A VALID DRIVERS LICENSE AND A COPY OF A HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA OR G E D EQUIVALENT IS REQUIRED. APPLICANT MUST PASS A PRE-EMPLOYMENT DRUG AND ALCOHOL TEST AND CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECK.

APPLICATIONS MAY BE OBTAINED AT FULTON CITY HALL FROM 8:00 A.M. UNTIL 4:00 P.M. DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS IS MARCH 29.

THE STARTING PAY IS $7.25/HR. JOB WILL CONSIST OF MOWING, WEED EATING AND OTHR MISCELLANEOUS DUTIES.

Traffic ADVISORY

A line of sometimes heavy snow showers have moved across the lower and western counties of Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 1.

Highway surface temperatures from ample sunshine over the last couple of days have held above freezing,  That has severed to melt most snow that has fallen.  However, some elevated surfaces such as bridges and overpasses have had more significant temperature drops.

Snow volume has been significant enough in some localized areas to allow plowing.

Crews in Hickman, Fulton, and Graves counties have trucks out plowing and paroling.  Calloway County has 2 trucks out spot treading and plowing.  Trigg County is patrolling at this time and prepared to respond.

Radar indicates the most significant bands of snow are moving out of the district.  Crews plan to continue plowing and treating as necessary while evaluating the level of operations of an hourly basis.

KYTC District 1, headquartered at Paducah, is responsible of 2800 miles of highway in Fulton, Hickman, Carlisle, Ballard, McCracken, Graves, Calloway, Marshall, Livingston, Crittenden, Lyon, and Trigg Counties.

Fulton Police Department is telling citizens that the 270 472 3141 is not working due to the storm but the 270 472 3465 number works to call it.  This is temporary.

City Hall will be closed today March 8, 2017 from 2pm to 3pm for training on new computer software.  We apologize for any inconvenience.

The meter change outs are continuing on water route four.  They are on West Highland this morning.  The gas meter change out was delayed but is scheduled to begin on Wednesday.

The water meter project started today and water meter change outs have been proceeding well.  The gas meters are going to be delayed until possibly the first of next week due to a technical issue.
