Fulton Police Department
“ NEIGHBOR HOODWATCH PROGRAM”
Mission Statement
To reduce and prevent crime and enhance the quality of life in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. The Kentucky Crime Prevention Coalition will build a membership organization that promotes crime prevention through innovative training and inclusive participation from diverse segments of the Commonwealth.
The Fulton Police Department needs the community to work and become a team player in the “ Neighborhood Watch” program. We invite you as a citizen to participate in this program. The Fulton Police Department is wanting to reduce and prevent crime in the community. It takes more than the Law enforcement to combat this task. One of the most valuable , over looked resources to prevent crime in the community “ is the residents themselves”, but they don’t always know where to begin. As residents train and work with law enforcement to report suspicious activity and practice crime prevention, they find they can tackle frustrating concerns like littering and vandalism to more serious problems like gangs and drugs.
Whether economic-related or simply the current trend, increases in crime require more than just additional officers on patrol to answer calls for service. Real crime issues are addressed most efficiently when the community and the police work as partners. When there are too few officers to go around, we should place a strong emphasis on programs such as Neighborhood Watch. Education is the key to helping community members be better prepared to address crime concerns, and to better report real crimes, leading to a decrease in calls for service, and more resources can be provided to communities to address other concerns.
When your Fulton Police Officers work in assignments with a specific community policing agenda or work the street responding to calls, successful crime prevention efforts involve developing close ties to the community being served. Better intelligence leads to better closure rates of crime, which in turn has the potential for reducing the overall incidence of crime in a particular area. “Neighborhood Watch” presents an opportunity to get volunteers to work together to identify problems and build partnerships with law enforcement. An educated community that is better prepared to address these challenges will significantly impact overall calls for service and ultimately the time demands of officers.
The role of the Neighbor Hood Watch Members are as follows:
1. Eyes and ears, observation
2. Report Suspicious persons
3. Common drug activities
4. TEAM WORK, REQUIRES YOU AND THE LAW ENFORCEMENT TO WORK IN YOUR COMMUNITY STOP CRIMINAL ACTIVITY
5. Practice personal safety and security
6. Meeting, this allows you to keep up on current activities
We need your help, working together for the good of the Watch and your neighborhood prevents criminal activity. Become a member!!!!!!
